No backlash here: Bulgaria to send tourists postcards

In some parts of Europe they are fed up with tourists. There have even been protests in Venice and Barcelona where they blame the large numbers of visitors for high prices.

In Croatia’s Dubrovnik, so many are arriving on cruise ships that there are fears of congestion on the cobblestones of the old, walled city. And the party town of Prague is asking young boozers to keep quiet after 10pm.

But Bulgaria wants to show it is grateful to tourists. It will send postcards to 400,000 people who have visited the country to say thanks for doing so!

The unusual initiative was announced on September 4, 2017 by the country’s tourism ministry.
